John A. Adams is founder of Life Without Limits of New London, Connecticut, a business development and design change company, and Adams and Adams Building Services, Inc., a commercial janitorial services company based in Enfield, Connecticut. A self-taught businessman, he started at the bottom and in slightly more than a decade rose to receive the Hartford Chamber's "Small Business Leader of the Year" Award. He also was named to the Springfield, MA Chamber's "Fabulous 50" list of leading privately held companies two years in a row.
During a 15-year career as an Air Traffic Controller with the Federal Aviation Administration, John often dreamed of starting his own business. In August of 1981, President Reagan fired the air traffic controllers who had gone on strike that summer including John Adams. That is when John launched Adams and Adams Building Services which grew to over $3.5 million when he sold it in 1996, to follow his passion of helping others discover Miracles at Work through his 10 Principles of Upside-Down Thinking and 10 Practices to Business Success. He is now in the process of publishing his book: Miracles at Work: Building Your Business from the Soul up.
A world traveler, John sails his 36-foot sloop Miracles and loves to share his stories about sailing single-handedly to far-away places such as Cuba and the Bahamas.

SPEAKING QUALIFICATIONS: John has spoken at numerous civic clubs, conferences and gatherings, including Rotary and sailing clubs, and various Chambers of Commerce. He holds a CTM (Certified Toastmaster) from Toastmaster's International, and, in 2002, placed first in the Toastmaster's Area Speech Contest and first runner up at the division level.

In this presentation, John shares his moving stories of triumph and defeat from his book Miracles at Work: Building Your Business from the Soul Up, including, He Stopped the Train and Two Years of Horror. In the first, John relates how a little boy, who almost died, discovered the power to stop a long freight train pulled by two mammoth steam locomotives. In the second, he shares knuckle-whitening stories about how he spent two years in training as a Radar Controller instead of following his passion as a leader and innovator. Finally, he introduces the audience to his 11 Keys to Business Success the things they don't teach in Harvard Business School. This will leave participants with the tools they need to capture their dreams of fulfillment.
